Mein Blanco 2023

Meín Castes Brancas 2023

Meín 2023 is the representation of the Avia valley, its historical viticultural interpretation, its sábrego soils and a climate that demands meticulous care on the part of the team. The most important grape variety is treixadura, but it has small percentages of godello, albariño, torrontés and loureira. Meín Castes Brancas is the extension of the landscape dotted with vineyards in the surroundings of Lugar de Meín and in this historic vineyard territory. Freshness of the Atlantic influence. The expression of the sábrego in an exceptional vineyard site.

The winter was rainy, accumulating a large amount of precipitation from October 2022 to June 2023. Bud break was early, which, together with the high rainfall, meant that special demands had to be made on the management of each plot. The summer was cool and the extreme heat did not arrive until the end of August. The harvest was ahead of Ribeiro’s usual dates and also took place quickly. It began on August 22 and ended on September 15. Both in the vineyard and in the winery, all the grapes were selected cluster by cluster to ensure the exact ripening point and maximum quality in the winemaking process.

Meín is the evolution of O Pequeno. Since the beginning of the Viña Meín – Emilio Rojo project, the aim has been to interpret the entire environment of Lugar de Meín and its surrounding villages: San Clodio, Vilerma and Barouta, all of them belonging to the concello of Leiro. With the microvinifications carried out, the essence of each vineyard has been recognized. Meín is an example of meticulous viticulture with an ecological philosophy combined with the smallholding division of the land. Small vineyards that dot the Avia valley and transmit the different textures of sábrego, the decomposed granite sands that characterize this environment. Mostly treixadura, it also has small percentages of godello, albariño, torrontés and loureira.

Mein Castes Brancas 2023 is made from vineyards in the Avia Valley, expressing the character of a unique territory due to its diversity and climate. Made with treixadura, godello, albariño, torrontés and loureira. The different vines were harvested at optimum ripeness in 12 kg boxes and taken to the winery where they were pressed separately and continued the entire winemaking process isolated from the rest. Fermentations were carried out in stainless steel tanks of different sizes and foudres. After 10 months of aging on its lees in the same tanks and foudres, the different plots and varieties were blended and the wine was bottled. It contains sulfites for greater protection. The identity that characterizes this wine is a reflection of the precision with which the vineyard is worked.
